Look at this crap. 99% of my CPU resources are being sucked up by Firefox because of the stupid IBM ad on this web page. I go off that page, and poof, it's down to 8% or less. Thanks IBM.

Why not use ad-block and/or flash-block?
adblock doesn't block it, not sure about flash-block...
I noticed problems with firefox a couple of weeks ago, so I closed down all unnecessary tab, including forums, and everything was fine again.
Since then, I only open forum tabs when I'm using them and the problems hasn't reoccured. I figured it was just a "too many tabs" issue, but it looks like you've found the real culprit!

That IBM nonsense was killing me some months ago - adblock fixed it for me. There's an add-in that automatically updates the filters (Adblock Filterset).
did the trick for me...
