The Search Continues...
You may remember that I had been looking for a DBA to add to my team a few weeks ago. I offered the position to New DBA and basically met everything he was asking for. A few days before New DBA is supposed to start, he calls and says "Sorry, not interested anymore." Seems NewDBA has found a better situation for himself. So it's back to the recruiters sending 10 resume's a day, sigh... Maybe I'll have some good answers to my tech questions to post.

Jeff, upgrade to 10g then you don't need a DBA :)
That's so wrong :(

Ha!
Tim is a very dangerous man. . .
Gee, everybody knows that you only have to attend the two-day DBA class. . . .
Jeff, upgrade to 10g then you don't need a DBA
and once I get that book on dbms_job I can lay off my other DBA!
That's so wrong
Well, I'm not really upset that he took another job. I'm more upset that I have to go through my search & interview process.
Tell him you will give oodles of $$ more.

Oracledoc:
You can post links with the href syntax. For example (I'm replacing the angle bracket with square brackets so you can see):
[a href="http://garry.to"]my homepage[/a]
Which if it had the proper angle brackets would look like my homepage
You can see how people do stuff like this with your browsers equivalent of "view source."
Didn't you have a second choice?
Actually, this was one of the candidates I got early and it was almost as if they were too good to be true so I snatched them up right away.

That's why personal business things stay pretty general on my blog...
You know, it's funny. Sometimes you don't want to great candidate because great candidates are hard to keep (unless yours is a great organisation). As crazy as it sounds, sometimes you want to pass up on the star and just get someone who is highly competent. If you do get the star, take advantage of him while you can, because someone might steal him within a few years.
I usually don't have that problem. Once I get them in the door I can usually keep them.

Hey there, I replay to emails. Maybe my spam filter caught it or something. Send again or PM on dbasupport.com with your email address.
